WWA SINGAPORE

05/22/10

The audience is welcomed to the show by promoter. He says that there will be a great amount of graphic violence, and asks that parents take descretion if any small children are in attendence. He then goes on to announce that tonight there will be four matches featuring top combatants from around the world to qualify participants in the upcoming WWA World Shoot Fight championship tournament. He says that also scheduled tonight will be an extreme tag team match, and a barbed wire match featuring two former World Hardcore champions!

Without any further distraction, let's start the show!

SHOOT FIGHT RULES

Katsuyori Shibata vs. The Monk

Shibata had a bit of size on The Monk, but The Monk didn't show any signs of backing down, coming out strong and hard with some massive left hooks to the head and a right hook to the body, followed by a low spinkick. Shibata managed to block a good bit of that, but you could tell some of it connected. Shibata took things down, which The Monk seemed to be able to handle with good patience, as he's very good from the guard position. The match would come to an end after a flurry of strikes in which The Monk was scrapping wildly, only to have Shibata come in and start kneeing him, going for a takedown, but The Monk ripped himself away and connected with a wicked spinning backfist, before kneeing Shibata to the face to earn the knockout and the advancement!

Greg "The Lion" Lewis vs. Kazunari Murakami

Kazunari Murakami showed absolutely no respect to his decorated opponent, attackig him as soon as he entered the ring. The referee had to break things up, but Lewis would push the referee aside and begin to rock Murakami mercilously in the corner with left and rights, pounding away, before tackling him to the outside! These two fought on the outside, scrapping in the ground, and Lewis was able to deliver a Capture Suplex on the floor that really rocked Murakami, but you can only win inside of the ring! Back inside, Lewis had Murakami mounted, trying to go for the Rear Naked Choke, but Murakami managed to block it and catch "The Lion" with two big elbows, following up with a switch and an attempted Guillitine Choke. Lewis would escape, but Murakami rocked him with a hard upward punch, making Lewis look pretty dazed, only to apply a wicked Kimura armbar that tapped out the veteran. The fans weren't too happy about that, but Murakami earned it.

We go backstage, where "Mr. Hardcore" Patrick Smith is talking over his game plan with his training partners, Johnny Rhodes and "Notorious" Scott Norris. When interviewed, Smith says that he's not afraid of the bigger Arlovski or his reputation, and that he knows he has a glassjaw and is going to try and knock him the fuck out real quick.

We then cut backstage, where an interviewer is standing in with Andrei Arlovski. The interviewer informs Arlovski that Smith is looking for the knockout. Arlovski laughs and makes fun of Smith's nickname, saying that the "hardcore" implies the kind of sex he likes to have with Rhodes and Norris, and that his pathetic punches and weak kicking power will not be a match for him tonight. He says he has been working on his ground game, and will be looking to utilize that in this upcoming contest, and looks forward to competing against the best in the tournament.

SHOOT FIGHT RULES

Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski vs. "Mr. Hardcore" Patrick Smith

Smith actually came in fast and tried a "Superman" punch early, but Arlovski was moving to the right with good foot work and kept him at bay with his superior reach, using a nice jab and leg kick combination. Smith tried to come in hard with a knee and grab up "The Pitbull" for some dirty boxing, but Arlovski blocked incoming punches and shot down, grabbing up Smith's leg and slamming him to the mat. Smith had seemingly fallen into his trap, as Arlovski went insane, punching him furiously and trying to mount his back. Smith had some good moves, but accidently went right when he should have went left and caught a big kick to the temple that knocked his lights out. Arlovski with a pretty quick knockout there, which might shut "Mr. Hardcore's" big mouth a bit.

MATCH FOUR
TAG TEAM RULES

Jun Kasai, Jaki Numazawa vs. Hyuk Suh Kim, The Centurian

This was a much different contest than the other previous matches, as we had some very different styles going on here. Jun Kasai and Jaki Numazawa brought with them to the ring a few weapons, including a board with razor wire attached to it, some lighttubes, and tables with thumbtacks glued to the top. Suh Kim and Centurian have a good amount of experience, but they are not necessarily used to fighting in such an extreme style, but it didn't seem to phase them. In fact, they both looked a lot more vital than they have in years, and The Centurian was straight merking fools, smashing Numazawa through the thumbtack table with a mighty Crucifix Powerbomb! The match came to an end when Kasai flew off the top with the razor wire board, splashing right onto Suh Kim to get the pinfall. Very bloody afair, but the crowd seemed to enjoy.

Abdullah Kobayashi is backstage, stabbing himself with a fork and telling the interviewer that this isn't his first time facing Ashcraft but it might be his last. He says he is out for blood in a serious way, and he wants to get a bid for his World Hardcore title. Ashcraft makes his way onto the scene, getting right up into Abdullah's face. He says that it is he who has the shot at Battle at the Busch, and he will prove to everybody why that is tonight, when he destroys the wanna-be deathmatch star. He says Abdullah was lucky to ever hold that title, and that just because he is tough does not make him a talent... and he says he has no idea how far and how twisted he is prepared to get in order to prove his point!

MATCH FIVE

SHOOT FIGHT RULES

Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Renato "Babalu" Sabrol

Big time match against two very talented individuals. Babalu made his name working the Vale Tudo ranks, which in Portuguese literally means, "anything goes." He was prepared for Cro Cop's kicks, even though they seemed to hurt quite a bit, and just kept pushing the envelope to get Filipovic down and try to ground and pound him. Cro Cop showed a great capacity to sprawl, evading Sabrol's attempts at a takedown. Sabrol managed to block a big and possibly deadly left head kick from Cro Cop and unleashed a flurry of punches that sent Cro Cop to the outside. On the outside, these two brawled and Sabrol laid into his opponent with a lot of fire, kicking him in the guardrail hard, but Filipovic grabbed him into a Guillitine Choke and laid into him with some big knees. Back in the ring, Cro Cop connected with a left head kick, which rocked Sabrol, but Sabrol managed to get to his feet at the count of eight, only to get attacked merciulously with leg kicks. Cro Cop tried for another headkick, but Sabrol captured it and took him down and began to punch him furiously before jumping up and coming down with a brutal elbow to the face! Cro Cop was looking out of it, but Babalu wanted to put the final touch on it, locking in a Jugigatame to get the submission!

MATCH SIX
BARBED WIRE DEATHMATCH RULES

Abdullah Kobayashi vs. Bellah Ashcraft

Slow match to start, as these guys went old school and were really building up around getting into the barbed wire. Ashcraft was the first to taste the barbs after a big clothesline from Kobayashi. Kobayashi was brutal, raking Ashcraft's head and face across the barbs before dropping him crotch first onto them! Ashcraft had to be cut out of the wire to continue, but he seemed to have a fire lit under him. Ashcraft managed to dropkick Kobayashi into the barbs and then actually suplexed him into them, caught the wire to snap from the posts, sending Kobayashi tumbling to the outside in pain! This aided Ashcraft, who headed up top and launched himself at Kobayashi on the floor, exciting the audience! Back inside, Ashcraft nailed a DDT and went up top, hitting a Splash but only getting a two count. Kobayashi fought back with a number of punches and clotheslining, nailing a Piledriver to get a two count. Kobayashi went into his pants, pulling out his fork and began to blugeon Ashcraft, before biting at the wound and then hitting a big Backdrop Driver, but only a two count came of it! Ashcraft would catch Kobayashi coming in with a Spinning Heel Kick, which he followed up with a Standing Moonsault to finally get the pinfall!

Ashcraft showed a good amount of skill and toughness here, and will prove to be a great challenge for CM Punk at Battle at the Busch.
